Would this work for the GT?

http://cgi.ebay.com/6-PIN-MIC-MICROPHONE-EXTENSION-CORD-CABLE-CB-Radio-NEW-/400187863488

NEW 6 pin microphone extension cable for CB and Ham radio. Coiled mic cable extends to 48in. Works with standard microphones common on Cobra, Galaxy, Uniden, and others. [NOTE: 6 conductor cable with pins 2 and 6 left unconnected; supports MIC, PTT, SHIELD, GND but may not complete the conenction for UP/DN mic controls. All 6 conductors can be connected with rewiring of connector.] INTERNATIONAL PURCHASES WELCOME

I just got 2 of these to see about making a meter for my GT and neither one worked, took and checked the pins with a muilti meter to see the #4 pin is dead between the male and female connector as there is no connection. Took one of the ends apart and see no wire on pin 4 and see 2 on another pin so took one off the other pin and soldered it on pin 4, took the other end off and did the same thing and now the cable worked. I wanted to use this cable for the meter, but had to do more mods to it to make it work as there is another pin and I think it was pin 6 also had no wire on it and you need one for the meter voltage from the control box to work. What I did there was one of the wires has a braided ground around the main wire so I used it for my number 6 pin on the female end at the control box and spliced my meter wires on male end that was at the coil wire. Used pin 5 and 6 as this is what Ray was saying was the power wires for the meter to work from the control box, Got it together and it worked just fine now, but have to figure what to do with the extra cable .
Bottom line is the way this cable is will not work on the Sovereigns unless you do the modify by soldering in the #4 wire and if you want to use it for a meter mod you will have to add a wire or modify the one wire there already for it to work.
I just did mine to see how it will work using my $3.95 meter from Harbor Freight which was great and locks on good, but mine looks real crude right now and will have to do some more mods to improve it even more. Might have to take a picture of it as you will see it will work, but a little crude looking yet.
