GT coil noises

jet

New member
I started using the GT on the beach last week following instructions for all metal mode. I am hearing a swishing sound when sweeping especially near the wet sand and the detector makes a noise when the coil touches the ground or water. Sensitivity doesn't seem to matter weather in auto or manual. Is this normal? Thank you for responding..

Does it do the same in discriminate mode? Might just be giving a slight signal caused by the salt water minerals. That would be my guess, especially if you're not hearing it in the disc. mode.

No,it doesn't do it in the discriminate mode. Does this mean that it is just normal? Thanks, Jet

I only hunt in AM/Pinpoint on the wet sand, make sure you ground balance first. With my Sov GT it's the deepest way to go!

So you are saying that PP mode uses the All Metal ground balance and thus you should balance the unit first? I may be wrong but Minelab states that PP mode is an all metal mode with ground balance disabled. We've already beaten this topic to death so I don't want to start another debate. I'm just curious if you believe PP is tied to the All Metal ground balance IYHO.
