GT beginners question

Was able to take my new GT out beach hunting for the 1st time today. When beach hunting what mode is best.... Disc or All metal mode ?

while running the Gt in Disc mode and hitting on a target, a good tone would be sounded and then the thershhold would go lower and like freeze (for 3-4 seconds) at the lower pitch ??.... Is this normal ?.

and when using the All metal mode is the tone a one tone only sound or a tone ID type sound while in All metal mode

while in all metal mode found a quarter at 8 inches in the black sand

TIA

The common wisdom is that the Sov sees deeper in disc than AM and in a year's use I've not seen anything ot disprove that, even when playing around detecting in AM.

The Sov threshold retains the tone of the last detected target until it hits a new target. (Unless you do something else to reset it.) That's a good thing.

You'll only get one pitch in AM. No tone ID.

What did the quarter sound like in disc mode?

Thanks for clearing up the Threshold staying the same tone until a other target is hit.

The quarter was very distinctive sound like a wasp flying by your ear at 125 MPH.

I only have a hour of use so far, and will spend more time this weekend learning the tones ..

Thanks Robert

Long Beach ca,

Hey labeachbum, BE PATIENT, IT TAKES TIME TO LEARN the SOV. LANGUAGE!! Also, I personally read any Owners Manual at LEAST TWICE before I touch a detector!! Also, get yourself one of CLIVE CYNICK'S BOOKS on detecting and finding GOLD with the MINELAB SOV., and READ IT AT LEAST TWICE while using your GT. His book will put you on the FAST TRACK for LEARNING YOU SOV.-GT!! Hope this helps, hh, Les Robinson
