GT and EXcelerator ll?

kd4hee

New member
Hi all,

I have an EXcelerator ll coil and it does not seem to work very well. The threshold is very unstable. I move the coil all over the ground and the threshold seems to go away like it is going over iron. I took it to the beach and just went totally crazy falsing. Anyone else use this coil? Could i have a defective coil? Anyone know how to check the coil? Thank for any help.

I had the 14 and still have the 12.5. Both are the older Excelerators ... not the newer ones.

They are extremely hot and do not work well in some places. In many places they require sensitivity to be set quite a bit lower than with other coils.

On the 14 I had ....if I remember right.....
Would air test (disc mode) 15" on a dime and 17" on a quarter.

Would not tolerate much electrical interference.
Did not get along with my Uniprobe either.
Conditions that limited sensitivity to 12 o'clock with my stock coil required the setting to be dropped to 3 or less with the 14".

These coils work best in cleaner, quiet areas with consistent moisture at all depths.

Best thing I can tell you is to compare with your stock coil. Set up the sensitivity for smooth operation with each and compare difference between required settings. Should be between 3-4 hours difference if you have to run your stock coil around 11 o'clock or less.

You must also keep your sweep speed slow.....that's a Sov requirement anyway.

If you can give me a comparison I might be able to tell you if it sounds right or not.
