GT and Excal tones?

Depends on the volume, settings, headset...etc etc. For the most part, there the same.

It really is all about the headphones. Those yellows make the tones muffled and condensed especially when you first start using the Xcal. I have the Skullies phones and use the Pro Golds these phones are pretty well the same thing.... but to me the GT tones are a little different. BUT..... not as much as going to another machine and trying to swap back and forth. You wont gain much if anything with another machine type either. Beach hunting is about getting good depth, sensitivity, tones and keeping it simple to use.
