Ground still frozen solid..

...but I got out for a while today. It was around 40 degrees and not bad, but the ground is still rock hard. Went to the playground at two schools. At the second one I found only one coin but it was a Sacajewa dollar. If you're only gonna find one coin, that's a good one. Can't wait for the spring thaw!

I haven't had to dig in a climate like that, our weather gets cold but not for long, does the temp bother your dectector? I have used hand warmer inside of my old silver umax dust cover, it seemed to help out. By the way what kind of coin is that? HHH

It's an american dollar coin. I think he spelt it wrong but I could be wrong myself on that. They came out I think around 2003.

The cold temps do seem to affect the 250. Last fall I was checking a ball diamond with the temps in the 30's. It worked fine in the sun but when i got into the shade, it started falsing all over the place. It would go off with the coil well above the ground. I started using John's tip on covering the battery case with one of those knit "footie socks" . Seems to work - no problem since then.

Thanks for the 411 I haven't had my 350 in extremely cold weather yet, HHH

It's hot weather in my area last two weeks. zone 8. That didn't bother me, but the skeeters just form clouds over me when I get out after 1 pm in the afternoon. When I heard them discussing whether to eat me where I was or take me home, I skedaddled for home. I found a 1968 penny and a 1959 nickel a few weeks ago and hope it's going to be normal weather at around 54 for a high and get out this Saturday. My pastor found an old church and got permission for us to metal detect there, but we've both had one thing or another keep us from our trip.

Where in the heck do you live??

I live about 50 miles from Albany, Ga. You take a little rain and warm temperatures between 70 & 80 and the skeeters rule the afternoon.
