Ground Filters

cx3

New member
I have been experimenting with different filter settings on my V I have found that in my ground, which reads -90 average that the 5 Band filter works the best it gives much better depth than the factory pre-set filter of 10 Hifgh. The manual states that a slow sweep is required for the 5 Band filter, but I can sweep fairly brisk and easily detect a dime with proper ID in my test garden that is 9" deep, and I can sweep very slow and continue to detect the dime with proper ID with no problem. If I change the filter to 5 High I git a lot of false signals even when I lower the sensirivity settings. The other filter settings 7 Band & 7 High do not give good depth in my soil. I briefly tried the 12 band selection and they performed about like the 10 band selection. My Rx setting is 10, disc. sens. 92, all metal sens. 68. Boost is off. I could not believe how making a change in the filter selection made such a difference in performance. HH

Played with them on detected in ground targets at the beach last night. the 10 high factory setting seemed to be the best there.

I too get better depth with the 5 Hz High pass, but I will try the 5 Hz Band pass.

Curious Jerry, where are you located?

I haven't "played" with the filters much, so, this info is great. Gonna try the 5 band today.
