Ground filter choices and a Owner's Manual typo?

Hi All,

I'm here in MD where the majority of ground mineralization I encounter is fairly low. With that said, I've decided to lower my setting on most of my programs from the factory setting....here is where I believe the typo comes in. The manual(p.23) states that 10Hz Band Pass is the "Preset for most factory settings", but the program chart 2 (p.49) shows that default setting is 10Hz High Pass with the exception of the Deep Silver program. Looking at the actual settings on my machine(didn't look through all of them, but most) seem to agree with the chart rather than the statement in the manual. I brought this up for 2 reasons. One, I'm hoping to hear from a White's rep to confirm my observation and secondly for you hunters out there that know your ground mineralization and grasp the concept of your own sweep speed may want to adjust this setting as it should help with what most of us desire...MORE DEPTH! I am planning on trying the 7.5 Hz Band Pass for my SPECIFIC ground conditions and sweep speed. I may even take it down to 5 Hz, but one notch at a time I feel is the way to fine tune my machine.

I think you are right on all accounts duclaw. In my highly mineralized ground, I seem to get better depth with the 5Hz High Pass filter setting when swinging slow. That is what I would call my Minelab swing. For faster swinging in open ground and less trash, the 10HZ High Pass seems to work better.
