Ground Balancing ..

I was just curious as to what kind of numbers some of you are getting when you ground balance your AT Pros. I was somewhat surprised that I start out in the low 90's and am only able to knock it down to around 75-77 when it quiets down.

Wow .. 24 people who can't compare numbers with me. Am I the only AT Pro owner who bothers to look at the numbers when ground balancing ?

Usually about 91 here in NM. I often crank it down to 81 or so.

The soil in my part of the woods balances in the 86-91 range, depending on the exact location.

I GB in the range of 78-92 here in my part of NY...there is a lot of limestone, clay and even brine in the ground around me....
I have noticed that in Bark chips, depending on how wet or dry they are, that sometimes it is IMPOSSIBLE to GB the machine...you will get no sound, and the numbers will not change from where they were last set...
Most of the time when this happens, I just set the machine to 80 and go...it usually is a good number for the bark chips...

HH,

Ah .. thanks everyone. I thought maybe I was the only one getting such high numbers. Even so, the AT Pro is a coin killer . . will post some of my finds with it real soon !

I found and started doing this trick. My AT Pro's hardly ever change numbers no matter where I am hunting...when I press and hold the GB and pump the coil. The machines were always at like 90. So I started hitting the GB to manually dial them down. I take them down to 50 and set it. Then hold Auto GB and pump the coil. The same exact location that was reading a 90 and would not move...doing that trick, the numbers rose to the 82 and stabilized. I don't know if my AT's have a problem or what, but both act the same. I now always manually start out at 50, then do my Auto GB. I would like to know if anyone else tries this and ends up with lower numbers like I do.

Get a 13 at the beach. HH

It's 78 to 84 in N ind where i hunt, but I'll usually lower it 10 numbers and start hunting.

On dry land, the AT is going to balance High end...Near Salt Water, it is going to GB at the Low end...I have tried the trick with bringing the GB down manually before auto balancing, and I think it gives a more acurrate GB....I also lower that number 5-10 points to make the Silver sing...

HH,

My AT GB's high 70's to the low 80's.....

I can set my GB to 80,,,,and in a clean spot, do the Auto GB,, and lets say its 84....
Now i can rub the GB down to zero, and do the auto GB,, and its back at 84..
Now I can run the GB up to 99, and do the auto GB, and its back at 84...
Now I can run the GB down 5 or 10 numbers,,,no problem....Hunts good...

Now with a friends AT and do the GB on the same spot, settings are the same,, both have the 5x8 coil...
Set this one at 80 and it will GB at 84...
When I run it down to Zero and do the auto GB,,it will only come up to like 77 or 78...
When i run it up to 99 and do the auto GB, it will GB at 87 or 88......
And if you drop the numbers down 10 numbers,,it acts up....

Do you all think that there is a problem with AT # 2 ???
Both are the latest run.....
Bj

Ground balance numbers only reflect the volume of mineralization the machine sees. Not the severity of mineralization (low-med-high).
