Ground balancing Tejon

Canewrap

New member
I just picked up a used Tejon and I'm having a little trouble getting a reliable ground balance on it. Is it a slow retune machine in all metal? Seems like I'm having trouble getting the threshold tone to stay sounding after lowering the coil to the ground, even though I'm turning the gb knob. I'm wondering if something isn't loose, because all I have to do is tap the housing to get the threshold to sound when I have the coil up. I sent the unit into Tesoro and they checked it out, but they shipped it back via UPS and I've had bad experiences with UPS banging up equipment.

Hay Canewrap,

It may help to turn down the sensativity while ground balancing.

If you haven't already tried that.

HH,

Using the trigger was the trick. I didn't get a book when I bought this used. Fortunately, I'm already familiar with Tesoros. The part that puzzles me is that the GB knob doesn't seem to have a stop when going in either direction.

it doesn't have a stop in either direction. You might feel a slight resistance but even if you don't it doesn't mean a thing. It is a
3&3/4 pot I seem to recall and don't concern yourself just ground balance correctly by the sound and you will be fine.

Yup - 3-3/4 turn pot and when it does bottom the end of adjustment either way, it should have a slight resistance increase and continue to spin.

Yep, I played with it some more this afternoon and I think I have it figured out now. I do appreciate the responses though and if I hadn't figured it out, what you gents supplied would have done the job. Thanks again !!
