Ground Balancing suggestions

1... After you have ground balanced, do it again about 15 to 20 minutes later when the coil temperature and electronics have matched the air temps... 2...The ground balance at the bottom of hills may be different at the bottom as opposed to the top due to the possibility of more moisture at the bottom . A note about Tesoro coils. I've owned just about every one. In switching coils, and GBing with a 10 turn pot (over a special area), none have been "off" by more than a half turn.. A bit of rain, a carving project to finish...If all goes well , will turn the Vaquero loose after Supper in a last ditch attempt to find another keeper at the mansion.

Great tips! That is why I like having my ground phase info available on my display. If I see the ground error indicators, time to re-adjust GB. Makes for zero guesswork, precise adjustment & very consistent depth.

Good advice KMV2. You're right about the moisture content of the soil changing the GB. On my Vaquero I can check and balance on the fly. I just push the pinpoint button and raise and lower the search coil over a clean metal free area and my ears instantly tell me if it set correctly or not.

True tabman, I did the same with my Vaquero. I just like having the info in front of me as a reminder. Then I know when to adjust, as opposed to having to stop to check it audibly. To each his own.
