Ground Balance ????????????

It used to be always said or at least 90% of the time a manual GB was better than a factory controlled GB on our machines.
Does that still stand ?. Or.has the microprocessors reach a level of precise control. That we could not get as a precise ground balance as the newer detectors are capable of doing. By the push of a control and pumping of the coil.

I'm talking Ground Balance capable detectors. Not preset ..we all know preset GB is hit, or miss, in different grounds. Can you ever truly find clean ground to get a precise GB ?. If you have a tracking and changing GB machine ..can it ever catch up to the ground conditions.

that's hard question to answer isn't it

ground sure is a factor in how VLF's perform some are more forgiving than others some like a bit neg / positive or spot on and depending on what targets are being hunted which way to bias the GB and what brand and takes some fiddling with some detectors to find the right spot on the dial/screen..

most forgiving in av ground I have would be F19 most temperamental berkut and in-between but really the ground has so much to do with the answer and so I don't think there is a right or wrong answer its what ever works

My guess is you want a detector to go deep, it needs a more exacting GB, my F19 GB's fast and easy but it ain't going deep enough to worry about the ground lol

Automatic ground balance is the way to go. Many people do not manually ground balance properly.
For instance, my Land Ranger Pro has something like 1000 manual ground balance settings. Use automatic and you won't go wrong.
When ground balancing, make sure pretty close to ground to get proper balance at end of balancing sequence. (Follow your manufactures advice).
The microprocessors in all modern detectors are good. As far as auto tracking speed, some detectors are adjustable for this feature.
