Ground Balance Trouble on XT50

First off,HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Only had it about 2 weeks,but have gott out too much.

OK,yesterday I went to my parents house to pick up my son,while I was there I thought I'ld do a little detecting.I'm still very new at this and that was the second place I tried to detect.
At my house it seem to do purdy good,GB around # 3.When to a freinds house last nite(after the insident) and took it just to see how it reacted there,and it did just fine @ # 7.

But at my parents house when I go to the GB mode it starts CHIRPPING like CRAZY,all types of hi an low sounds.Almost like when the SENS is turned way up but alot worse.So bad I cant hear the difference when I go up or down so its impossible to GB there.There are no hi-voltage wire around,maybe 1/2 mile away but I dont think that could be it.

I was down at the bottoms,its flat,a small creek cuts thru the property,its flat and is a flood plain.Also use to be farm land.When I put it in hunt mode it seems to do alright,found a dime @ 3'',but in AM I was showing stuff with all 5 arrows but I didnt dig them.

Stop by a park this morning just to see how the GB reacted and it did just fine there also,and where I am now,which is about 3 miles from my parents birds flight.

Sorry this is so long,but I tried to give as much details as possible.

Any ideas as to what this could be from?

Electric disturbances,too high ground minerals,radioactive?

I wont have access to the net today unless they got their monitor fixed.But Im herefor the next 1/2 hour or so.

Was the ground wet and are you in a red clay area?

Yes and yes.But its wet all around this area.Been rainin a good bit here but the ground aint soaked.
I live N. GA. and there is red clay around.But it does just fine the other places I've been,but only a few places.
I did go to the creek and detected in the sand and rocks there and it seem to do just fine in hunt mode.
It only does it when I put it in GB mode around there.
I'll try it a few other places this after noon when I go pick my son up there,I'll just pull off the road and try it right quick.

Thought of tradin it in for the 70,with auto GB and tracking.

I can't explain it but I've had the same problem GBing my X70, lately. When I go to a different location, it seems ok.

I'm in central NC. Red clay and wet for the last week or so.

Wish I had an answer.

I found something out though,I noticed as I walked down the bank to the creek it would just go absolutly bazerk.I thought that was cuz it was gettin close to the water.But My brother said he had an under ground electric fence there for his dogs collars,that was part of it but it only acted up within about 10' of the wire,then went back to normal.Went to the creek side and got a hit of iron @ 5 marks,I dug and dug and found a piece of wood with a rusted nail in it @ about 12'' deep.So it might be workin OK.
But still doesnt explain the GB mode.

Well,John,I called Minelab and talked to Sandy,she said it could just be over mineralized or something.I did mention about tradin it for the 70 but she said there was really reason for that beause the 50 is an exellant machine.

Yesterday I when I went to pick my son I tried a few places on the way and all was well,exept I went down another street that goes to the other side of my dads property around 22 acres,and it was a little jittery in GB mode.Something about that land.Maybe that electric current runnin thru the ground from my brothers under ground shocking fence for his dogs has somthing to do with it.I wont mess with it anymore,as long as its working good elsewhere.

I'll probably just keep my 50, she works great and I've had no problems with GB anyway....HH
