Ground balance question

What do you consider ideal ground balance numbers for detecting? Is higher better or is the middle better? Now I am not talking about for a specific area, more like your ideal place to hunt.

Every piece of ground will be different at least slightly as far as the ground balance numbers, mineral, wetness etc. all play a part from what I can tell. It also depends on what you are hunting for, silver, gold etc. There is a thread some where on the forum that explains some balance issues. In general I ground balance in auto..then switch to maunual and back the number down 5-10 for hunting silver ,,,,,,,or up 5-10 for better gold conductivity.Where I'm located, my average ground balance is somewhere around 80...HH

80 is what I am seeing here so far. I have read lots of info on GB but I was wondering what other people like to see for a hunting spot.

at the ocean, it can go from 10 to 60, on dirt, I have seen 70 to 90, I also manual push it forward and back, it took me a few weeks to figure it out, it was the first machine I had to GB, but I had 6 other machine before this one, it's my field/cellar hole machine

If you ground balance then change a few numbers and notice erratic behavior, you are in very hot ground. Mild ground you can change several numbers and no noises from lifting coil, etc. Hot ground means you need very accurate ground balance.
