ground balance question?!

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and find everything that i read helpful. I have a gb problem. Whenever i auto gb if the number starts at say 90 it will only move a number or two. If i manually bring it down to say 70that in the same exact spot then auto gb it will only move a number or two and not jump back to the 90's. My cousin has the same machine and in the same spot the two machines will auto gb at like 290-25 numbers different. I dont know what one is right and dontwant to miss out on anything. Any ideas or help? Thanks in advance

to check the gb-- gb acording to manual (in ground with no metal) then push pinpoint button and PP(moving coil up & down vertically)over the empty ground. If you hear the PP(the minerals in the ground) while moving the coil up and down, manually raise the gb. If you hear nothing lower the gb manually until a very slight tone is heard then raise it just a bit to get the slightest tone you can hear. Others may do differently this seems to work for me. Be aware Me thinks the pp is a slow self adjusting pp, if one holds it too long it will self adjust(decrease the sound-sensitivity) automatically.
