Ground Balance Question

If the gound balances at a specific number does that mean that any metal with a TDI of the same number will be blocked out? For instance if the ground balance number is 76 will that prevent the detector from detecting some or all of the zinc pennies that identify with the same TDI?

Hi Joe

The ground balance (phase) numbers and TID numbers are not related. Target ID numbers are a mathematical expression based on fairly simple logic formulas that show us what a target may be. Although coins cause a phase change which the detector uses for ID purposes they fall in a range that is different from that of the typical phase changes caused by ground minerals. Cancelling out or ground balancing high mineral (Fe) ground can cause signal loss on coins and affect the quality of the ID. Fortunately for most of us that is not a big issue.
