Ground Balance on the X-50 ???

Find a spot that does not have any metal directly below the coil. Hold the coil 4 or 5 inches above the ground and press the Ground Balance button. Now, you will hear the GB tone. As you repreatedly lower the coil toward the ground, (without touching the ground) and raise it back up, you will hear a fluttering tone that is either high in pitch, or low in pitch. Your objective is to get the high tone and low tone to "meet in the middle". I have never found it possible to completely eliminate or nulify the tones. Just a point that neither one is dominant. A point where they seem to merge together. To properly adjust the GB, and reach this point where the tones blend together, you will press either the + or - button. If the tone starts out low, you will need to press the + key until the high tone is "introduced". If the tone starts out high, you will need to press the - key until the low tone is "introduced". Like I said, you won't likely eliminate either of the tones. You will be properly balanced when the high and low tones "meet in the middle". HH Randy

Strive for consistency in both tone and directional balance. The tone should sound the same in both directions AND it should be a balance between the high tone and the low tone. The tone will still "flutter" around a bit. But, once you reach the point that they sort of neutralize each other, (where pressing either the + or - buttons make the tone more high than low OR low than high) you got it right! HH Randy

I seldom use the pinpoint mode on any of my detectors, except my XL Pro. And I don't pull the trigger on it for pinpointing as much as I do for additional target information. I started detecting before pinpoint mode was available and just learned to locate the target by X-ing over it from two or three directions, and digging in the middle. Actually, by not switching back and forth to pinpoint, it saves time and allows more sweeps per hour! HH Randy

I downloaded 2 players and still can not get the clip to play, what do you expect from someone that can not ground balance, lol. HH..BJ
