Ground balance issue

Hightone

New member
With my Deleon. when I am in the AM mode, and pump the ground, my VCO goes nuts. Now, when I used to GB my Bandido, it was only nuts when my GB was way off. As I got closer to good GB, that VCO was not as erratic. So what I am saying is, it appears my factory set GB is way off. Not having adjustable GB is the only Deleon draw back. Do other Deleon owners experience this? I'm wondering if there is a mod for GB on the Deleon. I'm sure it's nothing more than a potentiometer that can be converted to a knob.

I'm thinking of maybe trading my outfit for something like a M6 rather than sending the unit to Tesoro for them to GB my soil.

I hate thinking my GB may be way off.

but no pictures i have been looking for months
i would like to try this on my hawkeye but wire it to my light switch (which i do not use) for fixed or manual GB

Not sure what the inside of a Deleon looks like. If you can find the pot that adjusts the ground balance, you could set it for your ground by making adjustment then checking with all-metal bobbing and readjusting till you have it where it is balanced to that ground location.

Be aware that there are 2 GB adjustments, one for each mode. My D was too negative in all metal and I sent it in to be tweaked and checked without a soil sample. Came back slightly positive (good) in most locations I hunt and seems to work quite well overall. I definitely agree that lack of either manual gb or auto gb is a shortcoming of the D, but otherwise I've been pretty happy with mine.

Dan - My used DeLeon GB was way off for my soil when I bought it.

The first time into Tesoro repair didn't fix it, so I sent the unit back in with a soil sample.

That did the trick, it's worked fine since then. James Gifford called me and told me the GB was significantly off.

It's not that big a deal to box the detector (minus the middle rod) and soil sample to send to Tesoro. And Tesoro picks up the shipping costs coming back, so it won't cost you that much for shipping either.

1.. There are two GB trimmers. One for each mode.

2.. While some locations might have mellow ground and the DeLe

I agree Vito. I've never had an M6, but my DeLeon is great for depth and TID, particularly with iron. Sapper
