ground balance F70??

Eric

New member
I live in the Netherlands, and this means most interesting sites contain a lot of old and tiny pieces of iron. I have been reading the manual that in the disc mode, it is not really needed to GB the F70.

The problem is that to GB properly, its too hard to find an ironfree spot. The soil is not really mineralized so I hope it will be okay? Was hoping to get some other views and opinions here.

Thanks, Eric.

The area I live in here on the Texas Gulf Coast is also very low on ground minerals. I have set the GB on my F70 using a piece of iron ore (hematite) and checked my buried coins, then GB using the ground grab and there is really no difference in the way the F70 picks up the coins so I would say, since you're area is also low on minerals, it shouldn't make hardly any difference, hopefully someone else will post their views. F70 when you turn on has a fixed ground balance...approx. 90 so if your unit ground balances close to that imagine using the set balance wouldn't matter too much either way.
As my neck of the woods usually a high 60 or so I ground balance frequently and I believe the closer you get to be exact equates to depth and stability..If I am reading your post correctly all in all your call and even if mine were close to 90 I would still balance frequently....as Fisher supplies the tools and up to the individual to make this decision...

Once you get an idea of the most common GB numbers in your general area simply use that setting when unable to GB due to iron /trash.
