Ground Balance Enabled

I think when ground balance is not enabled the detector is in auto ground balance.

Then when you enable ground balance you have enabled the manual ground balance but when talking about manual ground balance there is an auto manual ground balance also not confused with the auto ground balancing that is taking place when manual ground balance is off.

Can others chime in and let me know if this is correct?

Thanks

If the ground balance box is unchecked, the CTX is in auto ground balance. When the box is checked, you are in the manual GB and need to go thru the manual procedure to GB the machine.

I'm sure Des provided a thorough explanation. But since I'm having trouble pulling up his attached video, let me give share my thoughts.......When the ground balance is not enabled, the CTX3030 automatically compensates for the effects of mineralization, as you hunt. Minelab doesn't use the term Tracking.....but that is what several other manufacturers call it. When you Enable Ground Balance, you've chosen to deactivate "tracking" and set the ground balance to a specific ground phase setting, based on mineralization levels under the coil at that precise moment. To accomplish this, you perform what is referred to as Auto Ground Balance (procedure of bobbing the coil). By performing this function, you have established and "locked in" a manual ground balance setting, automatically, based on the soil under the coil at that time. You can change that setting by doing another Auto GB, or disabling the GB and going back to the "tracking". JMHO HH Randy

Now thats a explanation! Thanks Randy

Randy (Digger), I want to search up all of your posts that have explanations on the various functions of the 3030 and put them together in a word document so I can go back and study them! I learn so much about this machine machine from you I would love to be able to sit down and read them from time to time for a refresher course!

The manual tells us what the functions are, you tell us what the do! I am sure I am not alone when I say I would LOVE to see a book written about the CTX 3030 written by you! In fact I would like to call "DIBBS" (LOL) on the first signed copy!

Thanks for always taking time to explain the machine to us! If we ever meet the drinks are on me! (I don't drink but whatever it is for you works)

Thanks for the kudos. To be honest, I have considered putting together another book, similar to the one I wrote for the X-TERRA. If you are not familiar with "Understanding your X-TERRA", you can download it FREE from MInelab's website. Although writing such a book is an extremely time consuming project, the main reason I have held back on the CTX3030 is because of all the great videos that CTX3030 users have put together. Seems that much of today's audience would rather watch a movie instead of reading a book. Nevertheless, I've submitted quite a bit of information to MInelab, in an effort to have them assembled into an electronic "Field Manual". Hopefully it will all come together and they might publish it, as they did with my X-TERRA eBook. I guess time will tell......Thanks again. HH Randy

 You're welcome!

Well, if anybody can write a book on the CTX, it's Randy for sure.-----What say ye Randy?----Any chance in you writing up a book format on the CTX?----Or perhaps one similar to the one you did on the Xterra?---Something that we could copy & read from time to time.----That would be GREAT!---------Del---------P.S. I just seen your post Randy, I certainly HOPE it comes to fruition!----I (and MANY others) will take/prefer book form anytime.

That's great, I sure hope Minelab publishes it! Video's are fine, and can cover some aspects that a book just can not, however a book is always handy and ready! Diagram's and the personal experience that you could put in a book just can't be captured in a 3 minute video. Heck you could even do some of your own videos covering things that only your experience has been able to teach you, that could be included in a book. Tip's and Tricks even would be amazing! Anyway, not trying to put a work load on you, that is for sure, life's about having fun when we can anyway. Still.....:)

Happy Hunting!

Des,

Thanks for posting the video! Nice job!

Don

Thanks for sharing your video Des. I had not been able to view it when I made my initial post. But after changing some settings on my IE11, it comes through fine. Thanks again. HH Randy

I, too, would be one of the first in line to obtain a copy of a book you write on the CTX!! If Minelab sees fit to put one up for digital download, that would be fine, as well. As others have said, your explanations make things incredibly clear and concise. You are definitely an asset to this forum and the Minelab world!!!

Thank you, Sir!!
