looking at the G2 with its real time ground analysis read out ,got me thinking that a probe that gives a ground minerals analysis ,could it be a help ??

What would it do that your G2 ground analysis would not do?
Oh...I get it, for the units that don't have that information.
Might be a good idea.

Most are in this for the "HOBBY" not a way of life. So I would say no. if your machine doesn't have it..don't worry about it.

I would even bet that many who have the ability on their units don't read it, or don't care too. Or for that matter, do not understand what their reading.

You are probably right, Elton.
Most folks are in the mild to moderate mineralization category anyway it so it wouldn't help them any. For those of us that are in the other category, moderate to extreme, it is a handy thing to have.

Most just turn on the detector and it works well or doesn't work well. Myself I like to know what my ground reading is. I find it helpful in a few ways too.

I'm more interested in what someone lost or misplaced, than the ground phase or minerization.

Heck XLT has had that ability for 20 years and probably the most unused facet on the XLT..

I would think for the average detectorists all he wants is a manual ground balance to compensate for the mineralization so don't feel it would be get off the ground for sales...

Of course I know one avid fisherman that takes the temp. of the water before starting to give him guidelines before he fishes so imagine some die hard detectorists might use.
From personal experience I have found the ground to change several times from one end of a football field to the other so with me frequent ground balancing is a must on hunts...
