Grip Conversion.

Why,, is yours torn????

The 'S" handle angle and thin rubber cover on the Gold Racer is a disappointment from what is pictured on the box.

Changed mine the day after unboxing.

Looks like Racer 2 have same handle arrangement, if so it will not be in my stable.

Wishfully Nokta/Makro will listen to their Paying Customers.

Red Racer handle much preferred.

Just goes to show you can't please everyone! The handle was changed 100% due to feedback from customers who felt the angle on the original Racer was to abrupt. Nobody was saying they loved the handle then. Now its been changed, and suddenly it was the best handle in the world. Go figure.

I much prefer the angle of the handle on both the Gold Racer and Racer 2 over the original, but I do agree the actual foam grip is a bit thin for my liking, and I may wrap it to be a bit thicker.

Having sold tens of thousands of detectors over a 40 year period I can promise you all one thing. Handles and grips are like shoes, they either fit or they do not, and no one handle fits everyone.

"Steve,

S'funny you should say that but I prefer the "Red's" [ funny angled ridged ] handle!!!
The R2 [ tired ] my wrist...I fed back that tidbit to "Makro"

I wouldn't say everyone, that was only two posts that said they liked the original handle...... I only prefer the extra thick foam hand grip on the original, but did feel the angle wasn't optimal.

I like the GR handle, yep its too thin but nothing a few raps of black mcnett wont fix, better than having it too thick have nowhere to go then, I am liking the GR it sure hits hard on low conductors , has to be the best detector of its type on the market.

so well done Makro!!

One would think you all were running for office. Let's pick a handle and all agree its wonderful. Then change the darn thing to what we like and not tell anyone. Like the disgusted voters who will not vote, manufacturers are going to quit making changes because nothing makes us happy. I like what Makro is doing and hope we don't drive them crazy or cranky!

PS Until my superPAC is certified, send cash donations to my PO Box.

No the fact remains - i firmly believe the new type grip is (for me) too thin. I personally think the new lazy type angle is ok , however the grip just feels not to my liking..

I think some are getting way to picky and critical over this.If you don't like it,change it.Wrap some tennis racket grip around it and be done with it. Makro has gone above and beyond to please their customers.Give them a break already and get over it.

type mcnett in to ebay love the stuff turn my detectors in to mummy's and its keeps them clean and easy to grab.

Hello all.
We made the change on the handle angle totally based on customer requests and feedbacks.
And this required a change in the actual molding design which cannot be reversed at this point.

Regarding the foam grip though- if all think that it is too thin, I can share the feedbacks with my team to see anything can be done for the future.
However, I am sure we have quite a stock on it so it cannot happen anytime soon.

We wish we could make every single customer happy but what one likes, the other one dislikes so while some will appreciate what we are doing, we hope the rest will understand and forgive us for what we cannot deliver.

Thank you all!

PS. Your comments and feedbacks will never ''drive us crazy'' as stated above:) It just helps us to deliver better products for your needs which is the main source for our motivation! So keep them coming...

I read all the comments about people not liking the angle on the red racer also.

for me its a minor detail the grip thickness, only thing I don't like so much is the GR or the others fall over when put on the ground with the 10 x 5.5 coil, and I don't like putting the electronics at the back on the ground, I made a fix and it looks and works great, maybe a way of keeping the electronics at the back off the ground would be a thing to work on

not really heard anyone else mention it , so maybe its just me :lmfao:

I put photos up here http://www.findmall.com/read.php?102,2268140

thanks for making some nice machines and listening to us, few other company's might work out that customer service is key to a successful business even if another manufacturer may have a slightly better product and I am not just talking about detectors here or saying Makros are not good, what ever field the customer likes to think they are the only person who the company is dealing with, so in short business is not about selling products its about people, I think in this new world of the internet and drive through mentality, a lot of company's have lost sight of what really matters, so keep up the good work.

I took the GR for a spin the other day in a local park, no gold but that's only because I didn't dig or put my coil over it or get down and dig the right target I have no doubt in my mind with the GR if its there I will find it, good feeling to have, love my Tesoro's for gold hunting but they might get a bit of a rest I think maybe a few a permanent holiday.

keep up the great work !!

I've been considering the Racer or the Fors detectors for a while now. Have plenty detectors but am wanting to try something different. As you can see I've been on this forum for over seven years. Seems like a lot longer for some reason. This is the only time I've ever seen a manufacture post a response to a thread. Impressive.

Nokta and Makro (one and the same effectively) have been the most responsive and easy to access detector manufacturer I've ever seen. They communicate regularly with their customers on the forums (not just Findmall, but many others as well), they listen to issues that are brought up from field use and feed it back to engineering to better their products, and their customer service has been second to none. A few small growing pains when the red Racer first came out, but they were resolved quickly and openly communicated with their customers about the issues.

Oh and they make darn good detectors as well

After having great success with my red Racer, I'm really looking forward to using the Racer2 I have on order :detecting:

Have there been any issues where the detector had to be sent in for repairs? Is there a US service center? I've seen the coil issue and it seems to be resolved, rather quickly if you ask me. I don't recall reading or hearing about any other issues. That's the only thing holding me back really. I usually like to wait at least a year or so before jumping in. Did that with my ATPro and am glad I did. I would say that the year has past and it does seem like they have passed the test. I guess I'll wait and see how the new Racer does before acting. Stay tuned, you just might have another in your ranks here soon.
