Grey Ghost underwater headphones

foreign object

New member
Not going to be diving but working the beach and some streams that get a lot of summer use. To avoid possible ruining a good set in case of a slip or fall was thinking about these.

Question is how is the sound quality compared to any other good set of headphones? What would be the pro or cons to getting these other than price. Also would they do ok for land hunting if need be.

Thanks
FO

I used a pair of Gray Ghost NDTs on my different detectors, but mostly on the CTX.
Mind you, this was before the new DP waterproof ones were available.
The ones I used had great build quality, comfort and tone quality. The individual volume controls were a big plus too.
I think you will find the overall sound quality excellent.
DetectorPro has excellent customer service too!
I have used other major brands of headphones and from my experience I don't think you will generally find a great variance among them when it comes to sound quality. Much of your purchase decision (aside from the waterproof issue) will come down to subjective factors such as fit and comfort.
If you can buy locally, and preferably from a sponsor) you can try them on before you part with the dough.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

For water use and the CTX, the GG is the only choice. I find them hot on the ears while on the hot sands and become uncomfortable unless chest deep in water. The audio is way too weak - can barely distinquish the taraget audio from the background surf and wind noise. The cord is a bit too short for my liking. But again, until someone markets another brand or you get a modded headphone, this is what you'll end up using with the CTX in water.

I purchased a pair a few months ago. I didn't get a chance to use them underwater yet. I feel that the volume is low compared to my other ones.

I'll third the lower audio. Great headphones but maybe because they are waterproof the audio does not sound as crisp as the stock ROSS headphones. For my lake hunting background noise isn't a competitor. Seems like they have great build quality.
