Grey Ghost headphones for Excalibur II

In the past I have done the modification to install the Grey Ghost headphones on the older Excalibur (blue version) . Used the alkaline battery cap and it worked great. I am in the process of changing out my stock headphones on my Excalibur II 1000 with Grey Ghosts and I have a few questions for those who have done the mod.

I notice in the waterproof cap on the Excalibur II that there is a resistor and some type of either IC or connector that is a small blue box. Are those used to adjust impedance to the Koss headphones? Are they necessary for installing the Grey Ghosts?

From what I remember, there were only two wires in my older Excalibur but on the Excalibur II, there are three......one is attached to a capacitor on the circuit board which is the shielding wire (red lacquer coated). Does the new Grey Ghosts have a shielding wire?

If you use the Ikelite alkaline female cap, where does the shielding wire go? Obviously there is a reason for it as that shielding wire is attached to a circuit board capacitor.

Got pic's but have not traced the ground wire

Thanks OldBeachnut. I should have looked further in the threads but It was getting late.

BTW....I really appreciate your videos. I watch them when the weather is bad and I can't go out. I've watched many of them several times and every time I learn something new. And I've been a water hunter for many years starting out with a Silver Turtle. Again..... Thanks for your videos and your help.

Hi,excellent photos joh, but I wonder what the cap with a yellow wire and 'the latest version of Excalibur II, in the cap, and the yellow wire that' a shield wire, where is' connected? I can not figure out if and 'connected to a pole of the resistance or not.

Thanks.

connected to the negtive side, then in the cap connects with the red wire and runs upto the piezo buzzer..............and why? I'm not sure other then a ground to the outside world? But it can't because it's all siliconed in......unless I missed something...

JOH is, if you understand how they are connected the wires in the cap, we can take the third wire coming out of the cap on the PCB even on old excalibur so we have a good shield.
