Greetings Garrett Forum Members,
I am a new owner of the Ace 250 from Rock Island, Illinois. I am a retired educator and am looking forward to getting started with my new hobby. Would love to hear from any members who might have some experience with hunting in the Quad Cities (Illinois/Iowa) area. Also, any info. on Metal Detector Clubs in the area.

G'day chuchciao
You have a great detector to cut your teeth on for a first detector. Although it is a simple unit, it will surprise you with what it is capable of.
if you take some time at home by playing around with your Ace and become familiar with how both good and bad targets respond to it, it will make life a bit easier when you head out to detect with it. The hobby can gets it's hooks right into you too surprisingly. Very therapeutic.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the findmall home page, you may find a forum that mentions detecting activities around the place. Kellyco have a link on their website that will give you information on where detecting clubs are in the States as well. they have adds on Findmall.
Good luck with the hobby and enjoy.

Your in store for a lot of fun.
The Ace was my frist detector. I have an MXT now
but I still use the Ace frequently. I just went out with it
this morning and picked up some coffee change.

I think after a while you will want to get youorself the4.5
sniper coil with an extra rod to make changeing coils eaiser.

I wish I had thought to bring it with me today. I hit a trashy
area getting multiple signals. The 4.5 would have pinpointed dead on.

If you can afford a small pinpointer I ad that to your
tools. It will save you a lot of time finding the target in the hole.
Some targets are so dirty you can see it from the soil.

Loots of people in your area with detectors. I bet there might be
a club or two.

Have fun

Katz

Welcome, Chuck! I'm just starting out, and like you, bought an Ace 250. It's a fun little machine and seems highly capable. Best of luck to you!

Welcome to the forum!:wiggle:This is a wonderful community and a great place to share info. Welcome to the hobby of metal detecting! That Ace 250 is a coin magnet! Feel free to ask for advice at any time. Best of luck to you. Happy Hunting!:)

As an educator you needed research, preparation and persistence.

Use the same criteria for dirt fishing and you'll do just fine.

Good luck to you!
