Just wanted the people that have been wondering to know I am doing great and had an interesting year. Not allot of gold finds as my right hand was broken for over two months this summer but I did have some fun and excitement and had a wonderful time diving here in Michigan.

My favorite finds were not jewelry or coins actually. I found three more WW 1 bombs that of course were practice ones and I still have them after I caused a bunch of commotion at city hall! Another favorite find this year was a magazine off a Lewis Machine Gun. This is actually the VERY first machine gun EVER to be put on an aircraft! Think of Snoopy and the Red Baron.

Gold finds were just over 3200.00 for the summer. A far distant from 6700.00 last summer. Ohh well, there is always 2014.

Please always be safe out there and enjoy the hobby!!! There are some VERY wonderful people on here and lots of good advice and tips. PEACE to ALL.

I came to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and prosperous New Year.

That machine gun magazine is such a fantastic find. Thanks for sharing that!!!! Good to hear you are still kicking with the detector. Hope that hand healed well.
Cheers,

Thanks for checking in with us Robert and sorry to hear about your hand. Sure miss your informative and interesting posts. Welcome back :clapping:

Thank you all for the replies. My hand healed just fine and I was back in the water at the end of July I think. You made me laugh Mud when you thought I had pictures of a clutch plate and down riggers!! That was GREAT. I am still diving with Kevin most the time and having a great time.

The three bombs are Mark 1 100lb bombs dropped from biplanes in the 1920's. The Lewis machine gun mag holds 97 rounds and has 6 left in it. Had to have fallen out of or dropped from a biplane that flew out of the local air base. I really love finding history from here.

I am still hoping to find a cannon, a Thompson Machine gun or Lewis machine gun, and if I get REAL lucky one of the two sidewinder missiles that were accidentally launched and are sitting at the bottom of this lake somewhere.

History is all over the bottom of lakes. Nobody dives most the inland lakes here and the thrill of what the next target will bring is an incentive to keep going. One of the interesting targets I found this summer was an ashtray with a propeller bottom. I brought up more boat anchors than I possibly know what to do with.

I traveled to a few places in Michigan in later summer and found enough gold to pay for my adventures and have money to spend. Met a few detectorists but no divers. I also put out a bunch of business cards and recovered a few rings for people. So far I have only not been able to recover two, and have really made a few people happy.

Being able to follow a dream and finance it with the gold and silver I find is absolutely fantastic.

Peace to all, and thanks again for reading and responding.

Good to hear from you again, HHhank
