Greenhorn at the beach

Wanting to beat the heat and give the XT50 a test I drove from Kingman to the San Clemente area. Many coins and one 0.925 ring. Weather was great and I wore myself out, mostly hiking to avoid parking fees. Am embarassed at how little I've used this gadget, when I'm scheming a trip it usually after nuggets.

Saw only one other shooter and quickly realized ... I need a scoop. He was very efficient and I talked with him for a few moments asking about his scoop. So now I'm asking here. Spent most of my time in dry sand, but see myself spending more time in the damp at low tide. Want a rugged scoop for wet sand/gravel and dry sand. What to look for, what to avoid?
Will also be getting the 18.75 DD so dealer solictations welcome.

Many zinc pennies in poor shape, most gave solid 30, any reason not to notch these out at times.

Luck
Paul
