Green Machine strikes again

(Sorry...no pics) ~1890's park today, took my 2500/12-1/2" coil for a spin over a meadow-type area; large park but it has been hammered - some on this forum say that Garretts lock in on silver, and they are right!
Only 9 coins in over 2 hours, but they included: '23 Merc, '42-P silver nickel, and a beautiful (Fine) 1892 Barber quarter, at 6+ inches. Then a real surprise - an 1837 large cent, in great shape! I kept staring at it, asking it how it got there. It was down a real 8 inches. Great and memorable day. I love my Green Machine.

Was wondering if you were searching in the jewelry mode when you were using the large coil, would be interested in knowing, anyway sounds like you had a great day, I've yet to find a large cent in Iowa.

I usually hunt in 'jewelry' mode. I live in CT and iron is very common to most sites. Unless it's a site new to me or there is mucho trash, I go with the bigger imaging coil. I own 2 Minelabs, and there still is a place for the 2500. (I just don't use it around saltwater sand.)

Thanks for the reply, I hunt in the jewlery mode and was interested in knowing, how much extra depth do you think it gives you overall, I know conditions can greatly influence this question, but would like your opinion.

My sense is, that 'all-metal' will give you more depth over any discrimination pattern. But that the difference between discrimination patterns is nil, re. depth. But I have little experience (with the 2500) running in all-metal.
I do usually juice it up with a sensitivity of 12 or higher - that usually gives me the depth I want. My 'ear' learns to ignore any falsing.

Shelby, thats a 15 min drive from me, I,m north of Atlantic, as far as hot spots, most that I new of I worked years ago, and the ones I have researched, after returning to the hobby have pretty much been messed up do to PROGRESS.
