Great way to end the weekend.

but the dimes are really lovely. Very ornate. Are the coins part brass, because by the colouring, they look like they are a bit? Where do you find those Butch? Parks? They're in really good nick.
Golden:)

Hi Angela
Actually they are all silver. I'm not the best photographer, I can never seem to get the lighting quite right. These coins came from one of our heavily hunted parks. I've been using a smaller coil lately and it does wonders at getting between the junk.

You are finding way too many good coins.

I feel a road trip coming..... we are going to pillage and loot!! Leaving behind no silver or IH!

No...just kidding. Keep at it. Winter arrives Thursday for us.

Wow! Great coins!! That quarter is BODACIOUS!!! Should be worth WELL over $100!

Which small coil are you using? I have a 5" concentric Excelerator for my MXT and it has done WONDERS in the trashy sites! Would you recommend a concentric or double-d for the Quattro?

Marc

Thanks Marc
Yes that quarter is one of the nicest I've ever dug. I use the Minelab 8" coil I think it only measures a bit over 7" and if I'm not mistaken I believe it's a double-d design.

Thanks Bob
The mad dash is on to get out as much as possible before the snow flies. The treasure gods were smiling down on me over the weekend I hope it continues.

God almighty, Rainy! You're constantly blowing my mind.:| You're not only finding the "killer" coins this year, but your photos are terrific. I know they had a kind of golden tint to them, and I can see where Angela, questioned if they were silver or not, which is understandible, but they still "look cool" anyway, in an esthetic sense. I just emailed Ken about this photo thing, because I'm so amazed at the closensess and the clairety you guys are getting. How do you do it, if I might ask, unless it's a trade secret, which I could understand.:|

Rainy, with out over doing it here, your such an inspiration to me, at least. These are really "great" finds, and the fact that you found them in over-worked parks makes me want to sell my detector, or maybe, instead, try and do some serious research and try much harder and break out my 5" coil to separate the trash better. I'm amazed at this stuff. You're really finding the "dream" coins that I've been looking for. Keep on sharing, and "scaring" me, at least, with this great stuff.:|

Hi beachguy777
I use a Panasonic Lumix camera. It seems to work ok my problem is getting the lighting right. It seems if you try to use the flash there's to much of a glare on the coins. I used to use a Pentax which I liked better but it was dropped one to many times. Not good. As far as tricks just get a decent camera with a macro setting and do some experimenting. I'll usually take the picture from 6-8 inches away from the coin and then I'll doctor them up a bit as far as sizing them right and cropping so there's not much back round but thats about it.

Hi beachguy777
Lately the smaller coil has made all the difference. The big coil is great, and deep to. But if you want to pull the nice ones out from the trash the smaller coil is the way to go. I was a little skeptical at first because I thought I wouldn't get enough depth so I didn't give it a fair chance and took it off before I really had a chance to learn it. Feeling a little guilty spending the money and just having it sit there I decided to give it another run. This time I put it on and left it. It's been almost two months and now I'm having a hard time taking it back off. It's nice to be able to go into those trash ridden sites where no one likes to go and get a bunch of decent coins. It also seems to be better at finding those coins on edge.

Right on Rainy. Thanks for the info. Well, it sounds like I need to get ahold of a decent camera and get to trying it out. I've got a pretty good video camera, but it's in the shop right now, but that may work OK, because it also takes still pictures. I'll try it out when it gets back, if it gets back.:(It's been in the shop now for quite a while, somewhere in New Jersey, but I'm hoping for the best. Thanks again, Beachguy.

So I guess your using the 8" coil. I guess that 8" is a great coil to have because it almost has to go deeper than my 5", but still separates the trash really well. OK, Santa Claus, where are you? I need a new coil Santa.:| (If Santa doesn't show up, I guess I better put some coins in the old piggy bank, and start saving)
