well I got out this morning for what I thought would be at least a few hour hunt. both batteries fully charged and ready to go. I get to a spot I found while out last time my battery died (was fully charged an hour earlier)
so I hike the almost mile hike swinging along the way,get to the area and the battery is on one bar...then blinking. so I hike back to the truck, grab the spare and walk all the way to the site without turning the MD on.
turn it on, hit noise cancel...start swinging...two wheats later and the battery is on 1 bar again????? any input as to what may be causing this? it DOES NOT happen anywhere else, the charged battery usually lasts me all day and then some.
here is a pic of the old stone wall, the other pics didn't come out well. there is an old foundation, walkway, and drive..

That's just plain crazy!

These are your recharge packs? I would try regular batteries in the slim pac and see what happens at this spot.

yeh both rechargable batteries..I will try the AA pack next time. this is part of a huge property next to a county park that used to be a limestone quarry back in the 30's -50's.I usually carry my spare in the back back right with me while I'm on these way out there hunts, but because my back has been bothering me I left the back pack in the truck.

That really sounds strange. Load that baby up with those copper tops and give us a report. Looks like a great spot so take spares. HH :minelab:

You may have found the "Bermuda Triangle" of New York. At least tie a string to your ankle when you go in, so we at least will know where you are....

The battery problem is one of the more strange things I've heard on here in a while! Keep us posted.

NebTrac

I had the same issue a while back. The battery packs would show full charge in the machine and then go dead very quickly.Come to find out the charger was not fully charging them.Tried my spare charger and problem solved. The car charger will do the same thing also if you only have it charging for a short while.

do do do strange but why? maybe there is some aliens sucking power in that area?

not sure i understand correctly though if you charge batt and go anywhere else it works all day but if you charge same batt and go to this spot it runs out real fast? so the only variable is this spot?

if that's true try call agent molder  although going on his last show he maybe to intoxicated :lmfao:

very interesting though

both batteries fully charged...tested with volt meter. right around 12v going to try and hunt a few spots tomorrow (not the spot in question) and see what happens,I will fully charge again... then Wed. I will go back to the spot and see what happens.
I put the "dead" battery on the volt meter before charging and it read 10.8V so I put it back in the E-trac and truned it on and had three bars???? went outside and just messed around for about ten minutes and the three bars held. this was the battery that was down to one bar then blinking.

Yep, its a haunted electrical forest there, fairly common around your parts...maybe some spot Tesla did some work? Theres a place I know of where I take dead batteries and they suddenly come to full charge! Matter of fact, one buddy hunted all day without any batteries in his detector at all!
Mud

Do you feel light headed or dizzy when you get in the area? If so, it could be sucking the life out of you and the batteries. I would not go back. Must be one of those alien hot spots. Be very very afraid:look:

Mud....the Tesla Effect....lol.
Gunwolf, you do need to do further scientific style testing. But if this place really does do this to batteries...it will be the weirdest metal detecting thing I ever read. Bar none:)
