Great Pond, Maine?

I'm headed to Rome,maine on the 9th.and staying at a cabin on Great Pond Lake. I don't know it they will allow metal detecting.
I'm curious to know has anyone detected this lake before and if there are any beaches there, just in case I'm not allowed to detect where I'm staying.

I'm sure the boss won't mind if I go out 1 day to do some detecting. Any info appreciated.
