Great Finds

I went to the local showground, where we have a big annual show.I grab my X-terra 70, and rush to the showgrounds, expecting to find a nice sum of modern coins. But after about an hour of nothing but trash, i started detecting back to my car and i get a nice solid 41, and found a 1927 two cent piece. I then detected a small patch of grass near my car to produce my best find yet, a 1933 One Shilling, that was in reasonably good condition, that just made my day!!.I also spoke to the caretaker, he informed me the old coins were most likley from the old school house that still stands at the top of the hill, that was bulit in the early 1900's.He also mentioned no-one has detected it yet.. Good Hunting Friends.

I love the way it looks coming out of the ground. Where I hunt it is always shiny.

Last summer was the year of the Newfoundland 5 cent piece. 1876, 1896, 1908. Two found on old footpaths and one in an abandoned field. One I found just a 20 minute walk from my house and is coincident in date, 1876, with the building of the largest church in the community below.

It sounds like you were a bit slow off the mark for the round gold nuggets.:poke: After the local show here, you have got to be quick. There is a certain spot that gives around $70 to $80 to the first detectorist off the mark. That usually goes to a local retired fellow that detects most days. I met up with him last week and he tells me that he has been incapacited with a bad knee at the moment and can't detect. I told him that I felt sorry for his loss and would detect in his stead. Life can be hard sometimes.
Well done on the shilling. A full siver one at that.:clapping:
Mick Evans.

Sounds to me like you gotta hit that old school.
