GREAT finds in girlfriends yard:clapping:

I went back to my girlfriends yard the other day where I found the 1908 indian head to see what else I could find. It had rained on and off all week, so i figured the conditions were ideal. First few hours turned up a few clad pennies and a bunch of junk. I then decided to restrict my searching to the side of her house, which had previously been the front yard back in the 1800's. A few hrs in, I got a good hit and dug up a 1916 mecury dime. This was a first and I ran inside to show it to my gf. I came back out and checked over the hole again and there was another hit! I then pulled out a 1923 mercury dime and a 1925 standing liberty quarter, another first. I was very excited. I continued to search and found another 1916 mercury dime a foot away! 30 minutes later and about 8 feet from my previous finds, I pulled out a coin a little smaller than a silver dollar with a hole in it like someone was wearing it as a necklace. It turned out to be an 1832 Nova Scotia Thistle Half Penny Token. Too bad it had the hole, but still a very cool find. About 3 feet from that coin I pulled out a 1831 Large Cent!!! What a day! I continued to search, and found a 1919 wheatie, but it was getting dark so I had to call it quits. Overall, an extremely productive day. Here are the pics

Great finds...looks like that yard is loaded with old silver...WOW!!!
Too bad coppers just don't make it in the ground...

Wow, those are beautiful! Mercs are my personal favorite coin. How deep were they?

Prepare to spend a lot of time in that yard!!

Beautiful array of old coins you got there. I too am becoming a firm believer that virgin private property is second to none for the older stuff. Congrats!

My God that is more silver than I ever found totaling to date! You need to check the 1916 Mercs. for the mint mark on the back. If your lucky (and so far it shows you are!) If one of them has a D mint mark it is a key date Merc. One of the most rarest of Mercs. Regardless if they are D's or not you have a natural talent for sure and have found your calling. My hats to you for a job well done. You are an inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing.:please:

WOW !! That's what you call a great day of hunting. Sure hope the girlfriend turns out to be a "keeper" like the coins. Any time you can find that many silver coins in a day, you are doing great. Congratulations!! I am happy for you. Thanks for sharing.

Still great! The "S" starts at about $4.00 for a g-4 up to about $25.00 for an AU-50. MS-63/ MS-65's are about $65.00 and $250.00 but don't count on the upper ends unless in uncirculated condition. (Good enough for slabing and pro gradeing). Still beats the heck out of anything I've found so far. Still very impressed.
