Great day

Well today was a pretty good day! I made a new hunting buddy last week when joined the detecting club in Dayton.. He and I are about the same age so we became good buds right off the bat :buds: We decided to head out because we both had a day off work.. At the first park we didn't have much luck at all. Manny found an old wheat thats about it. We headed to a different place that wasn't worth a darn either.. Finally I said lets go hit an old park where I had some great success last year.. I new just where I wanted to start when we got there. There's a group of nice sized trees in the middle of the park, the grounded is just littered with pop bottle caps and iron.. I have been playing around with the Semi Auto sensitivity when I hit a heavy iron patch. The results were again awesome! As soon as we got there I headed over to the big group of trees.. It wasn't long till I had my first wheat. I worked my way around the trees as slow as I could when the sweet sound of silver filled my headphones.. I opened up the plug and pulled a nice shiny rosy out  I started to get excited because the last two times I had been to this park I got skunked.. I covered up the hole walked about fifteen feet and got another SWEET signal.. I dug down and pulled a nice 1914 Barber dime with a V nickel stacked on top of it.. I yelled at Manny to come over and check them out. He asked me to out the dime back in the hole and cover it so he could check the signal with his F75.. I did and he swept the hole, He said he was getting a solid dime hit one way but it was real jumpy.. So I opened it back up, took the dime out and placed it on the nickel like the way it was when I found it.. So he check the signal, then started to walk away so he could go find one.. So I opened the hole back up.. Found my Barber "well thought it was my barber".. But I was having a problem locating the nickel.. I took my probe off, put it in the hole and it screamed silver.. I moved some dirt and there was a barber dime.. I got really confused... I could have swore I had already pulled the dime out.. I reached in my pocket thinking I was loosing my mind.. Sure enough I put one in my pocket.. I looked at the date.. 1907... I about feel over.. I yelled at Manny again, I said man you are not going to believe this.. There were two Barber in there.. I held out my hand and he about fell over too :surprised: I think that is the first double Barbers I have found.. So I am pretty pumped by now.. I messed around in that area for a little while longer then moved on...
I headed off to where Manny was, he was digging in front of this huge tree that I have circled countless times.. He started heading one way so I decided to circle the tree.. I got around to the other side trying to ignore all the junk that was making my detector nuts.. Then all of a sudden I got a stop you dead in your tracks silver scream! It was showing about 9 inches deep and hitting hard like a quarter.. I dug down put the probe in.. One more scoop out and there was a quarter sized silver coin staring at me.. I started shaking, I picked it up trying to see if it was a Washington, Standing, Barber or even Seated... I flipped it over and could tell it was something completely different.. I yelled for Manny again,, " I think he was starting to get a little aggravated by now" We both stared at it wondering what the heck it was. Finally we could see 1920 One Shilling on the back.. I thought Manny was going to need to carry me back to the Jeep lol What a fun hunt!!! The green Indian I found last night when I went back to Indiana to see my sister.. I stopped at my old park I hit hard for the last two years.. I only had about ten minutes so I went to the area with the most trash lol Wasnt long till I had a great looking 1879 Indian  Thanks for looking everyone, and happy hunting :)

Love the double barbers and the 1 Shilling!!

Glad you got another buddy to hunt with you. I wonder when he'll be getting a Minelab? :minelab::razz:

Nice job on that Shilling! I dug a George IV and George V a couple years ago, but not in the US :) They are regal looking coins and perhaps only rivaled by our Barber coins in terms of aesthetics. Damn shame our modern coins have gotten so boring looking! Nice find on the coin spill too!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO no he didnt just call me OLD? Man now you do suck haha. Way to go Darrell, thats a day we all need. Nice to find a hunting buddy close to you. Dont you dare talk him into an EXplorer too many people out there now diggin our silver.
