My 13 year old son and I went out detecting today. I let him use one of my older machines, a White's Eagle II SL. Previously he had been using one of those entry level (real entry) detectors. Today was the day to step up with the big boys. I haven't used that machine since last year when I bought my Etrac. We went to a local abandoned playground that has been around for 40-50 years. Last fall I went in there but the grass was too tall. Now the grass is all matted down. Well, about 5 minutes into the hunt Matt got a good signal an found one of the clad quarters. A short time later he got the nickel. Little did we know until we got home that the nickel was a silver, 1943 P. Not bad for his first silver. It didn't shine in the dark dirt like the usual silver...but, here it is. CONGRATULATIONS TO MATT, FIRST SILVER!!!!!
