Great day detecting and a dime grand slam

got out with my detecting buddy and had a few great days. found our first Barber Half, 1898. ( no Pictures as I can't pry it out of his hands).
the next day we found a Merc and an 1883 Indian Head that was really rough around the edges but it is still fun finding indian heads due to that feeling like we are really reaching back in the past. the next day we had a Wash quarter and 5 dimes. 2 Mercs, a Rosie, a 1904 Canadaian and a 1905 Barber. Only 2 Barbers of any type this year and found them back to back. Found these in a vacant school yard that had an old school on it that burned down ( can't find out when) and then a "modern" brick school that had been demolished.
we are using the modified Gone Hunting settings but I did mess with manual sensitivity a bit ( we usually use auto +3) and that is when we found the Barber dime at 9 inches. it was scratchy but repeated in both directions. Got crazy after that and dug a number of deep holes only to find nails and such. so it will take some getting use to the manual sensitivity mode but we will be using it again.

Very nice finds!

I'm in a bit of a drought right now. I stopped at an old farmhouse owned by some elderly people who we attended church with many years ago. She told me I could detect but was leery of the digging. I told her if she'd rather I didn't detect, that was fine. She said, "No, just go ahead." I offered to show her how careful I was when I found a target. So she sat on the porch and waited while I started swinging. About that time, her youngest son shoved up to run the tractor through the fields behind the house. She said I might be parked in the way of him filling the tank on the tractor with water. I told her I'd go out and ask him. First words out of his mouth after, "Are you hunting for treasure?" were "Don't be digging a bunch of holes in the yard." and "Don't be abusing my parents. They're elderly and can be talked into just about anything." . I explained that I wasn't digging a bunch of holes in the yard and I wasn't trying to abuse his parents. After parting with him, I sat and talked with the lady for a little longer and told her that her son would rather that I didn't dig. I thanked her for the visit. I told her to say hello to her husband when he got up from his nap. . She said, "Oh please come back and visit sometime." I would, but don't want to be accused of trying to take advantage of them.

I felt a bit perturbed and prayed that God would help me not to feel that way. I feel good about spending some time with her even if I don't ever detect there.

Congrats on your great silver and indian finds. I really like your analogy of digging history by finding old coins! Indians are as good as silver IMHO.

Hey Duke:
There are all kinds of disgruntled people in this world. Too bad you had to run into one of them. He was probably mad that you were having fun and that he had to work. Don't give up bro, detecting, like life, has its ebbs and flows. A silver streak is on the way.

Thanks. And I apologize. I didn't mean to hijack this post. Again, awesome finds!

Happens to us all man, prayer is the way to go!

I thought so, too. Thanks! I'm planning to get back out this afternoon, if the rains hold off.
