Went out with a few buddy's detecting this morning. First place was near an old Civil War prison camp, we didn't get much on that farm today, I did pull most of an old flat button. The second place was another friend house. It is a newer development on an old farm. It wasn't pull dozed over to bad when they made it, and some areas were not touched. Didn't pull much from the ground, but I found my oldest item that I can date so far. It is a button with letter on the back saying, Benedict & Coe Treble Gilt. Looking the company up I found that Benedict and Coe join together in 1829, and split in 1834 when the Benedict merged and changed the name again.

I am not sure it is a flat button or has lost the cap that may have been on the front of the button.
