great advice on here has upped my game!

I have been busy reading a lot of posts... I have been givin some great advice on here from quite a few . well I have been going out and finding out what works for me! I took all the advice, especially the advice on finding what settings work best in my area for me. also how to determine a rusty nail, and the best advice of all in my eyes was ... let the E-trac work for you... it will pick out the best target you don't have discriminated out and when you dig, if you find that rusty nail...keep checking the hole! I couldn't agree more! so here is what I did, I went back to a park that I have been hitting heavily along with just about everyone else... I used the Andy S. coin pattern and ran the stock coil with the sensitivity on 30! I would find a nice target with a nice tone both ways ( say an IH at 10") mark it, then switch to auto +3... it would chatter and thunk! then I would change to the trashy park program I have been running and check it in auto +3... barely a blip... then increase the sensitivity to manual 30.. and it would be ther but because of the null it was not a solid stable tone.
I would not have dug if I had not first found it in the other program running a hot sensitivity. when I switched to the Andy s. coin program and hopped up the manual sensitivity to 30 I started hitting targets I missed and so did everyone else... it is a lot of different tones and some falsing... but after a few hours I was renewed! I think I dug 2 rusty nails , a pouch full of pulltabs , and bottle tops ( they come in at the IH range here) in the past few days I have dug 34 wheats, 4 buffalo nickels, 3 V nickels, 6 IH's 1 merc, 2 rosies, and a boatload of memorials, nickels, dimes and quarters. and this is only a fraction of the park... I am gonna re-grid everything...
so thanks for all your input on my posts, and getting me back in the game!

gunwolf,

Glad you are finding out what setting works for you! If you get a minute, take a picture of all those goodies and post them to inspire the rest of us to do the same.

Rich your advice was spot on! thanks for your help getting me over that learning my machine hump! I'll post pics as soon as I get a new camera.... I'm old school with no smartphone, and I got too much dust/dirt in my camera and it wont open anymore!

Kind of you to say. It is advice given by many that I received when I first arrived at the Findmall forum MANY years ago when I was trying to learn how to use my Explorer XS better. It is easy to fall into bad or lazy habits.
