Great 2014 opener.

First time out for 2014 was a great day. Went to a spot that became available to me again do to another change of ownership. I had last hunted this spot in 1984 with a Garrett Freedom one and found a 1873 quarter. I was only there about an hour when the owner decided he really didn't want anybody in there after earlier giving permission. Needless to say, the gentleman was a bit different.

30 years later and by sheer coincidence I met the current owner last fall. The new owner knew the history of the property and said a couple of fellows had been detecting there last summer but never said if they were finding anything. (I'll BET YOU THAT 1873 QUARTER THEY WERE FINDING SOMETHING) Anyway the owner said come out anytime.

So last Saturday I headed out. I have only had an e trac since last July and found some good coins in some old hunted out spots using TTF. This time I used the Andy S. coin pattern and found an 1857 seated dime, 1890 seated dime, 1892 V nickel, 1900 barber dime, 1902 barber dime & a 1906 barber dime. Not too bad. The numbers were good and they were all 6 inches or less. I am going back this week and will give another report. The other hunters ahead of me sure didn't find it all. I only covered a small portion of this large area and went to the obvious spot.
By the way, I showed the owner everything I found. The owner thought it was very interesting and said come back anytime.

thats cool,...."not too bad"? thats an understatement! good luck next time out there. maybe the other folks found the easier, bigger coins but youve found some cool stuff for sure. good luck to you next time there. :detecting:
