General Rules

The Finds Treasure Forum Classifieds is for individual use only with the exception of banner advertising buyers. Those buyers may advertise their traded in, discontinued models, etc.

Individual sellers may post their normal unwanted detectors, or accessories in assigned classified forums, but they  cannot exceed (1) one item in a (3) three month period for each classified forum.

Only For Sale, For Trade, or Wanted to Buy ads are allowed.

Only Forum Members Registered for  90 days or longer that have more than 24 significant posts in our other forums, may post For Sale or Trade ads.

Rules for Non Sponsoring Sellers:

  • Items for sale, or for trade, should be your own personal property and be accurately described.
  • Your for sale or trade post should be self contained, without references to another site where you may also have it for sale.
  • Do not put links to eBay.
  • Do not put links to other forums where you may also have the same item for sale or trade.
  • Dealers are not allowed to post in Classifieds unless they are a sponsor.

Advertisements not adhering to the above rules will be deleted without warning or notification.

Gray Ghost Amphibian - Not Impressed at All

Yesterday I received Gray Ghost Amphibian - Underwater Headphones for Garrett products. I have read many reviews praising these headphones and thought that I would give them a try.

I have the AT Pro and the ATX and do saltwater beach detecting with 80% of my time in dry sand (AT Pro) and 20% on the wet sand and in the saltwater (ATX).

I used these headphones today for a total of 25 minutes with my AT Pro in dry sand. These $150.00 headphones sound worse than my $35.00 original Garrett headphones. The sounds from these headphones sounded muffled and flat like I was 50 feet under water. The tones on different metals are NOT sharp, loud, pronounced, and distinct. The volume does not get very loud and very little distinction between the tones of different metals.

I don't know if I received a defective set of headphones or what. All I know is the original cheap headphones that came with my Garrett detectors totally out perform the Gray Ghost Amphibian that I received. I never even attempted to try them on my ATX

I just finished the repackaging of the headphones, applied the return label, and they are going back to Amazon tomorrow at no expense to me.
 
I was just about to take the plunge on a set for my AT Gold so I'm glad I saw your post. Maybe others will comment to give me an idea if yours may have been defective. Thanks for the post
