Graveyards

I'm new to detecting nad have been practising in graveyards in town. I live in NW Connecticut so there are a lot of graveyards with 1700's tombstones. I haven't found many old coins but did find a 1912 wheatie. I'm afraid I am missing the deeper coins because of horrible hot rocks in my area. I'm using the stock coil.
Any have much luck at graveyards?

Sometimes you can find jewelry but digging down six feet and prying the lids off the coffins is a lot of work. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

The roads going in, or around the gates where people walk in or park their cars or horses seems to be OK, but most graveyards I have seen the plot were bought and paid for by a family memeber, so these are privite property and wouldnt recomend going on these.
I have talk to many that after the person is burried there may be a piece of jewelry or coins that are put close to the headstones, so these are ment to stay there.
I have done a few parking areas and you do find a few coins at some of them and some there is nothing, so it is a chance you take trying one.

It is an emotional place for a lot of people, and should not be disturbed. Digging in graveyards is frowned upon, and even prohibited in some areas. If you get caught, you could get accused of grave robbing, not a pleasant thought. I would keep out of the graveyards, even if you get permission from the caretaker.
