You've had that heater out many times at the beach now. How's it holding up against the salt water and sun?

Give us a run-down. Is the shaft sticking? Any plastic or metal parts showing signs of damage or corossion from the salt or sun? What are you doing when you get home to clean it? Any lube?

I'm standing by.

What are you doing when you get home to clean it? Any lube?...........................everyday or so i open up the back case and look around to see what is in there - so far - Nothing - remove gasket and clean it and the area where it rides and the end of the battery itself.......charge every 2nd hunt.......................shaft - do nothing - wash it some and the heater at the beach just before leaving at the wash/shower station and remove coil cover and flush it out also..........................shaft seems to be fine - it does feel a bit gritty once in a while, but water seems to flush it out - SOMEPLACE

That's good news that the shaft is essentially 'self flushing'. My Excal II and Anderson shaft are married together for eternity, it looks like.

Thanks much for the reply. Good luck at the beach and keep on posting those videos!

Hi Max interesting post, just interested to know how you are finding it compared against the Excal 2 you have used with great success, still early days I know and they are both very different machines, I use the Excal, most of my detecting is on the beach and I am toying with going for the CTX. Really enjoy your posts, and good luck.
