GPS Maping Questions.....

Buried Crap NJ

New member
While I have had the 3030 since May I just started to Use the GPS feature. Its use is great for ploting finds and knowing your locations. I am having some trouble converting map datums for use with the 3030. I use Historic Aerials to find potential spots to hunt and the GPS numbers are digital and the 3030 are degrees minutes seconds. I have use online conversions calulators with sucess, for converting numbers. My question is can this be done more efficiently than this? Haven't to first plot the area convert numbers and than hand feed the 3030 with waypoints is a long process.
I might just be missing a simple step here?

Click on preferences in the upper right hand corner of EX2 and you can change the position format.

On historic aerials, you can click the "survey" drop down box, then click coordinates. That is what I use.

The PREFERENCES setup Larry is referring to, has three settings. DD.DDDD (degree and decimal of degree, that matches the Historic Aerials format), DD.MM.MM (degrees-minutes and decimal of minutes), and DD.MM.SS.S (degrees-minutes-seconds and decimal of seconds). There is also a setting in the CTX for the format you want your Lat/Long coords displayed on the CTX. It is under the Menu: Options - GPS - Location Format. You can select D.MS (degrees-minutes-seconds) or D.M (degrees-minutes and decimal of minutes).

Thanks I'll check out the options Larry pointed out. It will sure make it easier to do without converting.
