GPAA CLAIMS IN AK.

Flintstone

Well-known member
Hi Steve, all the GPAA claim in Ak. are they worth driving to AK. for 2MO. to dredge? I know some are better than other, witch do you think would be the best? You know AK. better than most. What area? Thanks Flintstone

Nobody that I know in the local GPAA chapter spends any time on any of the few GPAA claims in the area. They go to other publically available areas.

Do you have the current guide? Do they still have the Birch Creek claims? They were the only GPAA claims I thought might be worth taking a look at.

Hi Steve,in the new Gpaa book, we have claims at. Quarts Creek, Peterson Creek, Nome Creek ( NO DREDGEING ), Colorado Creek, Poorman Creek, Caribou Creek, Crescent Creek, And Deadwood Creek, . Do you know anything about these? Thanks for All Help. Flintstone

Several of those are not even GPAA. Looks like nothing has changed except they no longer have the only claims that maybe were worth a day or two of my time. You might get a few dollars gold at any of them but that is about it. For all the effort the GPAA puts into promoting their Nome operation they have never put much effort into any other Alaska operations. Of course it falls to the local chapters to get ground and none have done much in that regard. The bottom line in Alaska is if you are going looking for claims you are doing it for yourself. Why turn them over to GPAA? Unless they have very little gold, which is the case of those listed. If you are looking for dredging ground the GPAA claims in Alaska are basically no help to you. A better place to start is at the Public Mining Site List

The only one there I would visit myself is Nome Creek and I would have to be in the area anyway. I would not mind scratching around there with a detector. It is open to the public, and is not a GPAA claim.

Most are free. I would put a dredge in Sixmile Creek before I would waste my time on any of the GPAA claims in Alaska. Only open to dredging May 15 - July 15 though. And dredging from centerline of creek only in direction of road. Far side is claimed. Sixmile Creek Gold Panning Area

Well, I do not know if it is THE place to go but it is A place to go! And lots of other creeks in the same general area. You will not get rich but you will hopefully have fun.
