Gower gold at Last

Swansea jack

New member
Been a long wait but at last I had a little luck. Been trudging the beach for 3 hours with nothing to show for it but some loose change when I decided to change my position on the beach for the last hour. straight away I found the sovereign ring then a few pound coins and a medium sized looped earing. Traversed across the beach another 30 yards and hit a large hooped earing then the mood ring and then very unexpectedly I hit the matching large Hooped earing. A few more yards several more coins and then the dreaded phone call from the wife to head home. Started walking off to the car swinging the detector, this is something I don't normally do but it had been such an eventfully 3/4 of an hour. Yes you guessed the last gold ring a signet ring with 3 red stones.

Sweet as pie, way to go, gotta love the game and the player. Just one question? Did you find these in the water or on the beach. If they were found in water, about how deep were you?

Thanks for the reply,

Gary

Way to go Swansea Jack. There is gold in those Welsh beaches! Sounds to me like you've found a productive area of the beach - probably a towel line. Congratulations. What date is the soverign? Its sometimes more worthwhile removing the soverign than keeping it in its setting.

There were members of one of the London clubs staying at the Llangennith camp site last week. They didn't manage one ring from Rhosilli (I got two but both silver) but they had fourteen from Port Eynon and Oxwich and couldn't understand why they didn't see anyone else detecting.
Still they needed the gold with the camping charges at Llangennith...it will be cheaper to stay in a hotel soon !

Port Enon And Oxwich have been very busy over the last few weeks with the beautiful weather. There has probably been just as may losses at LLangeneth but it is such a vast beach and the sand is normally very deep it much more difficult to find

Imitation Sovereign, the ring only weighs 3.5 grammes and it is quite large. It was near the low water mark on a 12.5 meter tide so if it was a towel line they were all pretty wet. glad to see you having a bit luck was the stone a real emerald

Certainly is a real Emerald! My mother has a diamond tester which also covers rubies, emeralds etc and it lit up like a Christmas tree!!! I need to get the gold quality tested now. Age is still a mystery - I need to take it to the finds officer, just work is hectic at the moment. Trying a new beach tonight, will post tomorrow how I get on!

Hi "
Hope you know the law was at one time [ stealing by finding ]
And all finds must be handed in to a police station then after 3 months you then have a right to claims of property not recoverd by owner ,
Not Finder's keep'ers Lose'ers weap'ers ,
But lose change well that's different "any way just thought you mite like to know
