Darn, has it been hot here! I haven't been detecting for a couple weeks, due to the 95+ degree days and the dry ground. I don't want to leave any brown circles in folk's yards as I may want to go back some day! But today, my brother talked me into going back to the place I pulled those Barber dimes out with the MXT and 4X7 Elliptical coil, a few weeks ago. We hunted for a couple hours, but didn't find any silver or IH cents. We drove a few blocks up to where he and I went to elementary school, more years ago than we care to remember. Behind the old school is where the athletic fields use to be. Now, it is nothing more than dirt and weeds. Figuring we wouldn't do much harm to the existing conditions, we started wandering around the area. I learned a couple things about the MXT today. 1. Dry conditions don't keep it from going deep. 2. When it says 50 cents, it means 50 cents. It got a bit confused on the Looney, but so did I. HH Randy

Those walker are probably the best looking half dollars made. Just shows what checking some areas can do. Could this have been one you lost when you went to school there?? Right time frame right? Great find :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

More and more i'm leaning towards the MXT for a higher frequency detector, however i gotta have that coil your using :) HH Bill

I feel fortunate getting to test one of them prior to general production. Apparently Detech was happy with my test results as well. JW tells me that the new ones should be ready to ship during the first week of August. HH Randy

Digger, Where are these Detech coils made? Do you know what the cost will be for the one made for the MXT? Have you been able to compare them to the Whites elipticals as for as performance? Again, nice finds... Thanks, TonyTX

Detech coils are made offshore. I am not sure where. The only reason I know that is because I am waiting for an 8" to test on my GT and I have been told that it is currently going through Customs. That is probably the same reason that these will not be available until early next month.
In addition to this 4 X 7 DD coil, I have tried several coils with my MXT, including the 3 X 5 shooter, the 6 X 10 Eclipse and of course, the stock 950 concentric coil. I like Elliptical coils better than round ones, as it seems like I can work in amongst the trash a bit better. I also like DD coils better than concentric. Even though my ground reads in the "50's" range, I feel like I can set my MXT to run a bit hotter than with concentric. I will add that this 4 X 7 is hotter than my 6 X 10 Eclipse. That is a good thing when you want depth. But it can be a pain when you are looking around metal fences and playground equipment. I have to remember to approach the fence with the tip of the coil closest or it will start signaling about 18 inches away. I have found that this is not uncommon for sensitive DD coils. As for the price.....don't know. YOu might give JW a call. Even though they are not available yet, he should know how much they will sell for. Tell him that you read about it here on the forum and that you figured he would be running a special introductory offer. LOL Thanks. Randy

Good information! I'll do a little research and see what I can find out about pricing. Performance sounds good to me :) Thanks again, HH TonyTX

Like Randy, I have been putting my 4
