Gotta get my hands on the f-5 could this be First Texas answer to the Edge?

gotta say the manual ground balance and threshold has my attention.I love to hunt all metal threshold based and target check in disc.Hope the all metal threshold is better than the f-75 or t-2 !Ive heard its a deep seeker maybe the all metal is smoother!!The t-2 f-75 has a useable all metal mode but come up short when compared to a whites 5900 or nautilus threshold stability..Also hope the ground balance carries over to the disc side.

Does anyone know if the coil connector is the screw on type?

ought to be a fun spring

Keith, I have one on order, like you ,can't wait to try it. Rumor has it that it has the depth of a Nauty!!! I have the T2 and hunt in all metal, 2 tones. I wonder if the F5 will still ID in all metal?

I'm looking forward to field tests on the F5 & F70.

It looks like Fisher took the complaints/weaknesses of the F4 and resolved them on the F5...if it's has a manual GB in all modes, and the Category ID and numbers 0-99 work in all metal mode as suspected it should be a good unit. The DD search coil looks nice and the coil to pole nut looks a little beefier then the plastic wing nuts on other models.

I suppose in the end, the only thing that matters is how well it works.

you just wait for a couple weeks after they're released and then buy a nice used one for a song. ;)

After you find one that suits you, sell it off and then buy a new one with a warranty. Lots of people do that.

I need just one more, then I have a collection*

with these 2 new machines from FT. I too am very interested in how the F5 will stack up, but not just against the Edge. At its price point I hope they gave the F5 what it takes to raise the bar over the Coinstrike and 1270 as well.

Only time will tell.

Steve,
