Got to use the F4 with the 4" coil

I finally got some time to try my F4 with the 4" coil today. What did I think of it you asked? Well I didn't like,I didn't think it was ok, I "LOVED" it. One thing I will say is the 4" is well let's just say it is very small. I never had or used a small coil before today & I figured the 4" would be small but man this thing is small. I found 6 quarters,a few pennies, several dimes (one was a 1943 silver dime),no nickels. Most coins were at around 3-4 inches, I got a hit at 6 inches telling me a nickel but it turned out to be a pulltab, but that tells me the little coil will get good depth. Great seperation & pinpointing. It got fooled by some of the flatened screw tops - they registered as a quarter but that can happen with any coil. I only went out for about a half an hour or so because of the heat but can't wait to get some more time in with the F4 & the 4" coil. I think I just might permanantly keep the little coil on the F4. Any of you with a F4 I highly recommend getting the 4" gold nugget coil. Steve.

I like mine also, but haven't had a chance to use it much. about 30 min.
or so. and will have to tell ya, hunted a park under some bleachers with the 4in. it was covered with trash and pull tabs, had everthing notch out but coins, it ran so quite I didn't think my detector was working so I hit the all metal button, OOOH MY GOD, there was so much trash I was not even swinging the coil and it was going off. so I hit the notch button again.

didn't get much in 30min. but f4 did find 1 qt 1 dime and 6 pennies.

:detecting:

I can't wait to try it out on some of my mega-trashy spots! The F4 just keeps getting better and better!

I HAVE A CZ-5.I LOVE THE MACHINE,EXCEPT FOR TWO THINGS. YOU CANNOT TELL IF THE SIGNAL IS A PENNY,DIME,OR QUARTER.A LITTLE LIGHTER WOULD BE BETTER.MACHINE IS EXTREMELY WELL BALANCED.DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE F-4 IS COMPARABLE,OR WOULD THEY SUGGEST SOME OTHER MACHINE.HOW DOES THE F-4 COMPARE WITH THE X-TERRA 50 OR 70?

and I keep going back to my CZ. I think it's one of the best machines ever made if you hunting in areas that aren't full of iron.

I had a CZ-6a which is very close to the CZ-5 and I found it to be too heavy, and too noisey. And it loved iron which is good if you are looking for it but I only hunt coins & jewelry. I have been using a F4 for a couple of months & love it. It is very accurate at id'ing coins, goes deep enough for me and is feature light compared to the CZ. It came with 2 coils (7" round and a 11" DD) and I purchased a 4" coil for it - so I am pretty well set. As for the Xterra 50 &70 I don't know. I had a Xterra 30 and sent it back immediately, I couldn't find a sherman tank buried one inch with it. And it wasn't defective,my dealer tried it out and he said it was fine. I thought maybe because it was factory set ground balanced might of been the problem but I have had several factory set ground balanced detectors before and had no problems. Could be because the Minelabs are made in Ireland & New Zealand and are set for the ground there I am not sure. I will end by saying that I am more than happy with the F4. Steve.
