I got to get out and hunt one of my southern sanded in beaches..... The signals that were exposed were very deep and higher in the tide line...... Thanks again OBN for the excellent work you did on my trusty Excalibur !!

Do you mostly hunt the wet salt sand? The reason I ask is because I would like to have my excal set up like yours but I hunt mostly in chest deep water, will the switch be ok if constantly submerged? thanks

yes john......it is all waterproof but not approved for diving with it......but shallow surf hunting is fine.....

Looks Good SD, And Thank You Sir for letting me work on your machine.

Plus let me say, Thank You for the Weather updates on what's coming...I know to be ready when you say............Ok Guys and Gals get ready ONSHORE WIND ALERT FOR THIS WEEKEND

John if you notice I hunt with the detector submerged in the Bay, but like surf digger said I don't think for diving to the limit of 250 feet...I think you will be fine. Now the Skullies you have to baby them..dunks only....

Each handle is cut to fit the toggle in, the wiring to the toggle is sealed with an epoxy before putting in place, once in place the toggle is epoxied into position, then wrapped with silicon tape.
The remote used is a IP68 toggle along with a IP67 boot cover, the rear area were the connection is made is incased with 2 part heated epoxy, then I inject RTV silicon to finish up any airspace left. The toggle has 30,000 life cycles, The endcap I make has tighter tolerance's then the factory, Machined from a Acrylic rod, Not like the weak casting from the factory, And a larger O-ring for more surface seal area is used. On each machine I do, the endcap goes on, then the endcap is totally sealed with Aquaseal then before it dries I heat shrink the black shrink wrap, the two become one, Totally sealing this from any sand and water. I do think this setup will last the life of the machine above or below water.

Thanks for the info Joe, soon as you open shop back up I will get with you and get mine done the same way, I do believe you said you will be down till next winter? Thanks, John

Forgot, If you submerge your machine in saltwater with the remote PP handle setup, I would suggest pulling the boot cover once ever few months and cleaning out the salt deposits with a medium tooth brush. Here is a picture of my machine, never cleaned, no boot cover the full time and it's been two years now hunting in the bay, submerged maybe 70% of the time. The sealed area still looks perfect....

Thanks John, and shop will open next November then will close again come Feb 1st... Due to Hunting season coming on quick.....I can't wait...:bouncy:
