It is a sweet, no-nonsense machine. I didn't swing it over any good targets today, because I was looking for a new CW camp, going over some new ground. I did dig enough junk and a little melted lead to know how the machine acts. I tuned it in after GB'ing it with a good, low threshold in all metal mode. Whenever I got a good tone, I would thumb the toggle into disc., where I had that set on just below nickel. Iron went away, so I kept going. I did dig a few old shop-made nails just to see what the machine was saying. I know that the Tejon has dual discrimination, but the good thing about the uMax models is the ease of flipping the toggle to check the target. To me, that's just as good.
